James Lewis marries his partner Ed Otter, 18 years his junior, in a private ceremony this September, marking a new chapter after his separation from his former wife. The Bargain Hunt star, 53, confirmed that around 50 guests attended the intimate wedding, including his daughter Arabella, whose presence influenced their decision to hold the ceremony locally rather than abroad.
Lewis described meeting Otter as immediate and profound, calling it essentially “love at first sight.” He explained that following his split, he was ready to embrace a new relationship. “Pretty much, yeah… I had split up from my wife… And I was just ready,” he said, reflecting on the sudden intensity of their connection.
The couple had initially considered marrying in the United States, possibly at Yellowstone National Park, but prioritized including family in the celebrations. Arabella, Lewis’ daughter, now warmly acknowledges both men as “Dad” and has developed a close relationship with Otter, who also works alongside Lewis at his auction business.

Lewis has faced serious health challenges in recent years, including two cardiac arrests, with doctors advising him against stressful situations. Yet he chose to move forward with the marriage, later commenting with humor, “I’m not intending to get married again, but there will be more charity auctions.”
