A Hitler-obsessed teenager has pleaded guilty to attempted murder after attacking a man with an axe in Bristol. Alina Burns, 18 at the time, targeted Mohammed Mahmoodi outside a barber shop in August last year.
Court records show Mahmoodi narrowly escaped serious harm after dodging the axe. Police said Burns admitted to her intent, telling officers she wanted to “cut his neck.” Investigators also seized weapons from her home, including a scalpel and darts.
Burns had links to Patriotic Alternative, a far-right organisation led by Mark Collett. Authorities discovered extremist material in her home, including emails calling to “kill all Jews and Muslims in Britain.” Other writings showed she saw herself as “the embodiment of hell, destined to annihilate everything holy.” Her notes referenced Adolf Hitler, and her online searches included queries on buying weapons. Just before the attack, she wrote: “Land is reclaimed through terror… Better if they flee out of fear.” Police confirmed she purchased the axe intending to kill Mahmoodi.
While Burns initially denied a terrorist motive, the case highlights concerns over radicalisation among young people. The trial continues as the court examines the full details surrounding the attack.
