Victor Osimhen has successfully undergone surgery to repair the hand injury he sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash against Liverpool. Galatasaray confirmed on Monday that the operation, performed by the club doctor Yener İnce at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, was successful. In an official statement, the club said, “In the away match against Liverpool, our player Victor Osimhen, who was unable to continue due to injury, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce.”

The Turkish champions expressed their support for the forward, adding, “We extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to our footballer and hope for his return to the field at the earliest.” While the club did not provide an exact date for his comeback, sources suggest Osimhen could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

The injury is a setback for both Galatasaray and the Nigerian national team, as Osimhen has been a key offensive player. His absence will test the squad’s depth in both domestic and European competitions, while also raising questions about his availability for upcoming international fixtures. Despite the fracture, the successful surgery indicates that the striker is likely to return stronger, though careful rehabilitation will be essential to avoid complications.

Osimhen’s performance in the Champions League, even though cut short, highlighted his importance to the team. Galatasaray’s medical team and coaching staff will now focus on a structured recovery plan to ensure he regains full strength and match fitness. Fans and teammates alike are hopeful that he will resume training within the projected six-week period, allowing him to make a timely return to crucial matches later in the season.
