Norwich school stabbing occurred at Thorpe St Andrew School on the outskirts of the city, leaving a teenage girl injured and a 16-year-old boy in police custody. The incident triggered a significant emergency response, reflecting the growing concern over safety in UK schools.

Emergency services were called to the school on Laundry Lane shortly after 10:24 a.m., after reports of a student being stabbed. Armed officers arrived quickly, alongside fire and ambulance crews, to secure the scene and provide medical attention. The teenage victim was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital with injuries described as minor.
According to Norfolk Police, the suspect fled immediately following the attack. Witnesses reported seeing the boy jump over a fence at the school’s south entrance before leaving the premises. Police later apprehended him nearby and confirmed his arrest on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is now held at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre, where he is being questioned.
During the response, the school enforced precautionary measures. Pupils were instructed to shelter under desks while officers established a cordon along Laundry Lane and carried out a detailed investigation on the premises. Thorpe St Andrew School, part of the Broad Horizons Education Trust, has not issued a public comment on the incident.
Norfolk Police clarified that the stabbing does not appear to be connected to a separate incident reported at the same school last week. That case involved antisemitic abuse during a national cup quarter-final football match, where players from the Jewish Free School said they faced harassment on the school grounds. Authorities have emphasized that both cases are being investigated independently.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, including the motive and any potential links to wider concerns about student safety. The rapid police intervention and arrest underscore the urgency and gravity with which law enforcement treats such incidents in educational settings.
