Woman arrested after firing shots at Rihanna’s Beverly home became the focus of a police investigation Sunday afternoon after authorities said a suspect opened fire outside the singer’s residence in the Beverly Crest area of Los Angeles.
The incident took place shortly after 1:20 p.m. on March 8 along the 9500 block of Heather Road, a residential stretch known for its private estates and hillside properties. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, an unidentified woman drove to the property and fired several rounds toward the home before leaving the scene.
Police say the suspect used what investigators described as an AR-15 style rifle. Authorities believe between seven and nine rounds were discharged. At least four of those bullets struck the residence.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area and began searching for the vehicle believed to have been involved. The suspect had already driven away by the time police arrived at the home.
A short time later, officers located the vehicle roughly eight miles away from the property. The woman, described by police as being in her 30s, was taken into custody without incident. Her identity has not yet been released publicly.
Authorities confirmed that Rihanna was inside the house when the shooting occurred. No injuries were reported.
Investigators spent several hours examining the property after the incident. Police were seen searching the driveway area and inspecting objects near the home as part of their evidence collection. An Airstream trailer parked at the residence was also examined during the investigation.
The case has been assigned to detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division, a unit that handles serious and high profile investigations. Detectives are now working to determine why the suspect targeted the property and whether there was any prior connection to the singer.
At this stage, police have not released details about a possible motive. Investigators are expected to review surveillance footage from the area and examine the suspect’s background as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Beverly Crest, located in the hills above Beverly Hills, is home to a number of entertainment industry figures and business executives. The neighborhood is known for its privacy and limited street access, features that typically keep it removed from public activity.
