Ben Cleveland divorce settlement has drawn attention after the Chargers offensive lineman agreed to pay his estranged wife $550,000 to resolve their marital split. Court documents filed in Georgia in late January provide insight into the financial and legal arrangements designed to bring closure to the couple’s short-lived marriage.

The settlement, reported by The California Post, includes a lump sum of $550,000. Part of this sum is allocated toward a 2024 Land Rover that Cleveland agreed to transfer to his ex-wife, Kaitlyn Terrell Cleveland. Other funds appear tied to Kaitlyn giving up her claims to shared real estate owned during the marriage.
Beyond financial matters, the agreement outlines the division of personal property. Ben Cleveland has relinquished claims to household items including a golf cart, certain rugs, pillows, bedroom furniture, and kitchenware. Kaitlyn, for her part, agreed to return Ben’s firearm and thermal scope while allowing him to retain ownership of two properties in Georgia.
Legal representation for both parties remains separate, with each agreeing to cover their own attorney fees. The settlement also includes a non-disparagement clause prohibiting either party from making negative comments or posting about the other on social media. A judge has yet to sign off on the agreement, though Cleveland filed a motion last week seeking to expedite court approval.
The divorce has a complex backdrop. Ben Cleveland filed for separation in February 2025, just days after a DUI arrest. Court filings cited adultery as a reason for the split, a claim Kaitlyn has publicly denied in court documents. The couple married on July 21, 2022, and effectively ended their marriage on December 29, 2024. Neither has made public statements about the circumstances of their separation.
Kaitlyn’s attorney, J. Chase Wilson, confirmed the constraints of the settlement, telling The California Post, “We are prohibited by the terms of the settlement agreement from making any public comment.”
Cleveland’s personal life has intersected with his professional career. Drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Georgia, he began his NFL journey five years ago. Despite the personal challenges, including resolving the DUI matter through a plea deal in late 2025, Cleveland continues to play at a high level for the Los Angeles Chargers, maintaining focus on his athletic responsibilities amid public scrutiny.
The settlement highlights the intricate balance between public persona and private life for professional athletes. While financial compensation and property division settle material matters, the emotional and reputational dimensions of divorce often extend far beyond the courtroom. For Cleveland, the agreement offers a legal closure, but public attention ensures the story remains part of his ongoing personal narrative.
The Ben Cleveland divorce settlement involves a mix of financial restitution, property allocation, and personal agreements aimed at minimizing conflict. While the $550,000 payout resolves monetary claims, the non-disparagement and property agreements reflect a broader effort to compartmentalize the divorce and prevent ongoing disputes from spilling into the public domain.
